Monday Meditation: Growth is no accident

Growth is never by mere chance; it is the result of forces working together.

-James Cash Penney

Grief has an excessively steep learning curve. It is like no experience you have had before and one that will hopefully be repeated infrequently. Grief is an amalgamation of forces that brought about this swift and painful change in your life. Grief is not just sadness, it is learning. Grief is growth, painful growth but growth nonetheless. Grief has appeared at a time when you can learn the most, about life, about yourself, about others, and about your lost loved one.

The forces that pulled together to create this grief in your life are collaborating to encourage your growth as well. Rather than wondering why you, why now, why this experience…ask what you can learn from it. Who can you become through this experience? What can you learn about your loved one that you hadn’t known before because of this experience? How can I grow through this grief?

Allow yourself to grow through and with grief.
